Good news for more Sony Samsung users! Until the official launch of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, more Xperia devices (Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra), as well as the Galaxy Note 4 phablet, will be updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
The owners of the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra devices who will update to the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS will see this build number: 14.6.A.0.368. Until now, only a few locations have received the Lollipop firmware, so the rest of the users will need to wait for the OTA update.
Another Android device which was behind with the updates was the Galaxy Note 4, which was stuck with the 5.0.1 version. Soon, three of the major US carriers: Verizon, US Cellular and AT&T will start rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to the Note 4, after the Sprint variant with the model number SM-N910P already received this update in August.

The new update brings also improvements to the Material Design, which has more fluid animations, new colors, widgets and themes; Device syncing allows you to access applications, songs, photos and recent searches fully across all Android mobile devices; Notification controls allows you to respond directly from the lock screen; Device sharing allows you to create multiple user accounts and allow your friends to access your phone/tablet without taking a peek at your private data; Android Smart Lock will allow the device to be securely paired with other trusted devices, including wearables or cars etc.
In addition, there are more options in the Notifications menu for WiFi and Bluetooth, LinkedIn can be integrated with the Calendar and Contacts, the camera software has been improved, so the device can take more accurate photos, because the autofocus and speed have been enhanced. Moreover, if you own a Sony SmartWatch 3, you can use it as a remote shutter button to take pictures with your Xperia device.
