Moto G, G2 and G3 To Receive Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update – What About Android 6.0?

12

According to new reports, the Moto G series will receive the Android 5.1.1 before getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

If rumors prove to be right, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be released for the Moto G series on September 29, 2015. This means that the owners of these devices will be able to use the latest Android Lollipop version before being updated to the upcoming Android Marshmallow. Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to be released sometime in October 2015 along with the Nexus 5 2015 (also known as Nexus 5X) device.

Unfortunately, Motorola didn’t confirm which Moto G device will firstly receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. According to rumors, the Moto G3 will be the first device that will receive the upcoming Android M OS, being followed by the other Moto G series. Moto G3 will most likely receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow before the end of 2015, being followed by the Moto G2 in January 2016 and the Moto G1 in February 2016.

In concordance with IBTimes, Motorola will release the new Android M starting with its Moto X Style (aka Pure Edition in the US), Moto X (2014), Droid Turbo, Moto G3 by the end of December 2015.

We remind you that Motorola is a former mobile division of Google and has a good reputation for being one of the early adopters of the latest Android OS version as soon as it gets its hands on the Android source code.

Until now, Google hasn’t gives an exact release date of the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but we’re sure that this will happen this fall. Hopefully, the big search engine company will hold an event soon where they will unveil both the Nexus 5 (2015) and the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
