OnePlus 2 – An Excellent Phone Which Can Be Bought Through An Invite
Successful stories are rare, but they are possible because the initiators use a healthy strategy, which attracts MONEY! And OnePlus is a Chinese manufacturer with vision and ambition, proving that any company can break the ice and reach the top easily. The first OnePlus One smartphones came with an affordable price and high end specs, competing with big names on the mobile market. A year later, OnePlus 2 came and the manufacturer is hoping to have the same positive reactions.
The launch of the OnePlus 2 has been delayed many times, because the company worked on the invites system, so that the users can get them easier. The sales went live in Europe and North America on August 11 and of course, the users were able to buy the phone only with an invitation. The price of the 16GB variant was $329 (£239), while the 64GB version was $389 (£289). Those who were lucky enough to get an invite in the first place (through contests or promotions) were given the chance to help their friends, by donating them an invitation.
Design and Display
The exterior of the OnePlus 2 is similar to its predecessor, featuring a magnesium and aluminum alloy with steel control keys. The device is 1mm thicker, because the previous model lacked the metal frame and its battery was smaller. The back has a black sandstone finish, but there are other available options with interchangeable StyleSwap back panels made of Kevlar, bamboo, while the wood model has color options such as black apricot and rosewood. The OnePlus 2 weights 175 grams and on the front panel it included a fingerprint scanner (hidden inside a home buttons which sits between two capacitive buttons). As for the screen, its screen and resolution are unchanged (5.5-inch with Full HD resolution and 401 ppi), but the IPS LCD panel offers better color and brightness.
The OnePlus 2 is now packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor which uses 4GB of RAM for the variant with 64GB of storage and 3GB of RAM for the 16GB model. The battery has been increased from 3100mAh to 3300mAh, in order to handle the faster processor.
The phone has dual-nanoSIM support, full 4G LTE capabilities and a new Type-C USB standard. The fingerprint scanner recognizes up to five fingerprints, working in only 0.5 seconds.
The primary camera has a resolution of 13MP and supports an aperture of f/2.0, optical image stabilization, large utrapixel technology, laser focus, dual-LED flash and 4K video capture. In addition, you can record 720p slow motion videos at 120 fps and the images look great in low light environment thanks to the six-element lens. As for the front camera, it supports 5MP.
OnePlus ended collaboration with Cyanogen and created its own software called OxygenOS. The new version of this operating system started rolling out on August 20 and the installation file has 1.1GB. Version 2.0.1 comes with improvements, bug fixes, a patch for the Stagefright security exploit, support for the global carrier APNs, a fix for the Dark Mode feature, which was causing instability in certain applications etc.
