Nexus 5 (2015) vs. iPhone 6S – Early Impressions and Specs Comparison
The iPhone 6S has been officially launched and the first customers to get their hands on the new model are from the US and Canada. The sales are going ok, although the successor didn’t have the same impact as the iPhone 6, because it came only with a faster processor, better cameras and the 3D Touch technology. The Nexus 5 2015 will be unveiled in a few days, but Google hasn’t given any official statement about its specs. Luckily, the internet is a place where rumors travel fast and we have an idea how this phone will be like.
Designs and Displays
The iPhone 6S is stuck with the design of its predecessor, featuring a metal case (aluminum) with curved edges and rounded corners. The only difference between these two iPhones is that the new model has a new color option – Rose Gold and the chassis is a bit thicker, because it was made of 7000 Series aluminum, so the new dimensions are 38.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm. The addition of the 3D Touch technology, which detects the level of pressure applied to the screen, increased the weight of the device, which is now 143 grams. On the front side, below the 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels at 326 ppi, is found the circular home button with the fingerprint scanner hidden inside it.
The Nexus 5 2015 or Nexus 5X, will have a rubberized plastic body available in three colors: white, black and greenish blue. It was created by LG, which opted for a protruding circular rear camera, which increased the thickness of the device by 1.8mm, from 8mm. The device is expected to measure 146.9 in length and 72.9mm in width, while the leaked weight is 177 grams. As for the display, it will be an IPS LC which will measure 5.2-inch and will support a Full HD resolution. The fingerprint scanner will be found on the back side, below the camera.
The iPhone 6s will be powered by the new dual-core Apple A9 processor which will be paired with an M9 co-processor and 2GB of RAM. This means better performance compared to the A8 (the processor is 70 percent faster). It’s not unusual that Apple kept the three storage options with capacities of 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB and didn’t add a microSD card slot for expansion.
The iPhone 6S came loaded with iOS 9, but Apple already released an update, iOS 9.0.1. the Nexus 5X will run on Android Marshmallow, which will have support for Android Pay.
Cameras and Batteries
Apple has improved both cameras on its iPhone 6S, increasing their resolutions from 8MP to 12MP and from 1.2MP to 5MP. The iSight rear camera supports phase detection auto-focus and has a new feature called Live Photos, while the front camera doesn’t need a LED flash, because Apple uses a technology which brightens the screen and lightens up the face of the user. The battery isn’t bigger than that of the iPhone 6, but in fact, its capacity has been reduced from 1810 mAh to 1715 mAh. But the A9 is more battery efficient and it won’t affect the life of the device.
The Nexus 5X will have a 13MP rear camera with OIS and laser auto-focus, while the front camera will support 5MP. We’ve heard many versions about the battery capacity, but many believe that the unit will be 2,700 mAh and will be charged through a USB Type-C connector.
