Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 Receives the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update – What’s New?

If you’ve purchased a Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 from the American carrier AT&T, then get ready, because your device should receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop sometime soon. AT&T already confirmed that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be released for its variant of Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 (model number SM-T337A).

We remind you that the AT&T Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is already running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop, so the owners of this device should already be familiar with all the Lollipop features such as the new Material Design interface, lock screen notifications, individual application privacy, improved Quick Setting and Notification bar, improved battery life and many more.

In concordance with the AT&T’s support page, the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update comes with improved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth management, updated Quick Settings, improved notifications, new animations, enhanced memory management, improved device security and more. The new update also comes with additional pre-installed applications such as New YP VPL, AT&T Messages VPL, AT&T Messages, but it also removes some of them such as Flamingo, Beats Music and WatchON.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update that’s ready for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will be released in phases, so depending on the region you live in, you will get the new firmware sooner or later. Once the update is ready for your device, you will receive a notifications saying that a new update is available for your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0. You can also check yourself to see if the update is available for your device by going to Settings->General->About Device->Software Update->Check for updates.

We remind you that you will receive this new OTA update only if you run an official Android build. With other words, you will not receive the update if you are running a custom ROM on your Galaxy Tab 4 8.0.

The new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes with the build number LMY47X.T337AUCU2BOH4 and has 867MB in size. We suggest you to be connected to a Wi-Fi network when you download this file, because it is pretty big and you will surely not want to waste your mobile data for it.
