How to Get WhatsApp Chat Notifications on Your Desktop

Do you find WhatsApp irreplaceable in your life? Well, you are not alone.

There are more than 900 million other people like you who feel that the world would end if WhatsApp were removed from the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store as well.

WhatsApp has become the king of messaging, managing to transmit over 64 billion messages in a single day. This is massive, especially when compared with the recent stats released by the owner of Telegram, citing that the app manages 12 billion messages in a day. However, it is nowhere near another revelation made by Facebook, which announced that it had managed to connect 1 billion people at a given moment in a day.

These are mind-boggling figures, and it only shows you how massive WhatsApp has become in the lives of many. It has even become a business tool for many organizations despite the fact that Facebook has not rolled out any business plans for the messenger. Many people use this application during their day to day business activities, and some have even moved it to the office.

However, many offices are equipped with desktops and laptops and given that WhatsApp is a mobile app, it may at times become cumbersome to check your phone now and then for WhatsApp messages while at the same time busy working on your PC.This is where the WhatsApp desktop notifications come in.

How to bring WhatsApp chat notifications to your desktop

Earlier this year, Facebook rolled out a new application known as WhatsApp Web. This application is meant for use with iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Symbian devices, alongside a PC. WhatsApp Web has opened up lots of possibilities for this messaging app, among them desktop chat notifications.

Rather than constantly checking your phone for WhatsApp messages, you can now direct these messages and notifications to your desktop via a Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, Microsoft Edge or Opera web browser.

To make this happen, make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone. Launch the app and check out the menu settings where you should see a WhatsApp Web option. Tap on it to open a QR code scanner. Once this is done, head to your PC and launch any of the web mentioned above browsers. Point it to the page at web.whatsapp.com and using the QR code scanner on your phone, scan the QR code that appears on this web page. You will automatically be logged into the WhatsApp Web client and immediately, you will see a messaging asking you whether you want to allow desktop notifications.

This setting can be changed at any given moment by tapping on the menu icon (three dots). However, when enabled, you will receive all WhatsApp chat notifications on your desktop, and you can easily respond to them from this end. However, as noted earlier, ensure your phone remains connected to the internet for this to happen. Otherwise, the messages won’t come to the desktop client.
