Nexus 6P – A Flagship Smartphone Will a Metal Body And 5.7-inch Screen

0

Google’s latest Nexuses have been built by LG and Huawei. The first company worked on the smaller Nexus 5X with a plastic body, while the latter was in charge to create the phablet. The Nexus 6P exceeded our expectations, featuring a beautiful design and high-end specs, which will impress any customer, not only the Huawei loyalists. So, if you’re undecided whether to get the cheaper 5X, or the more luxurious phablet, then take a look at 6P’s specs and you’ll know if it’s worth its price.

Design and Display

The Huawei 6P is smaller than the Motorola Nexus 6, sporting a 5.7inch AMOLED screen with a QHD resolution of 2,560×1,440 pixels (515 ppi), so the images are pretty vibrant and sharp. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 placed on top of the screen protects it against breaks and scratches, if the phone will be accidentally dropped on a rough surface.

The device has a metal unibody build which feels solid and premium. It doesn’t have a microSD card slot to expand the internal storage and lacks wireless charging support. The available colors for the metallic chassis are Silver (aluminum), black (graphite) and white (frost), and the rumors say that the Japanese customers will have a gold version as well.

The dimensions of the Nexus 6P are 159.3×77.8×7.3mm and it weights 178 grams. On the back, it has the camera with the dual-LED flash placed inside a black strip which was added to the upper side. Below it, in the center, is located the fingerprint scanner, which was named Nexus Imprint (it recognizes your fingerprint in less than 600 milliseconds).

The power/lock and volume buttons are located on the right side, the USB-C charging port was placed on the bottom and the device has also stereo forward-facing speakers.

Cameras

The back camera is 12MP (Sony sensor) and to launch it, you will double-tap the power button. The sensor size is 1.55-micron pixel, which is better than iPhone 6S Plus’ camera which supports 1.22-micron pixels. The images look bright even in low light conditions, thank to Sony’s new technology. One of the features that are worth mentioning is the smart burst mode, which can capture photos at a rate of 30 fps, and which can be transformed into an animated GIF. The camera can also record 4K videos and slow motion videos at 240 fps. The front camera has a resolution of 8MP, so it can be used to take excellent selfies.

Hardware

The Nexus 6P is powered by a 64bit Snapdragon 810 processor, version 2.1, which has four cores running at 1.55GHz and four cores running at 2GHz. The processor is backed by Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. The battery has a capacity of 3,450mAh, but it’s as thick as Samsung Galaxy Note 5’s 3,000mAh unit. However, thanks to Android Marshmallow’s new battery saver, Doze, its life will be extended. We’ll wait until more tests will be performed, to get an idea about the overall battery life. Likewise the Note 5, the Nexus 6P has three variants of internal memories: 32/64/128 GB, which can’t be expanded.

Prices

The 32GB variant will be sold for $499, the 64GB model will be $50 more expensive, while the 128GB will be priced at $649. Moreover, the US buyers will receive a $50 Play credit and a 90-day subscription to Google Play Music.
