Apple has just updated its line-up as per its annual cycle, and it promises great news for the consumers because the iPhone range just got better in several ways.
As expected, there have not been any changes in the design department with Apple focusing a lot on adding new features to the phone.
It is certainly a disappointment for those who are expecting a QHD display on the new iPhone 6S or the iPhone 6S Plus since these phones continue with the same resolution and screen size as before. It may have been a little discouraging even in the last generation as it had to go against phones with QHD screens like the LG G4 and the Galaxy S6. Surprisingly, Apple has decided to retain the same for this generation as well. The iPhone 6S Plus has the 1080p screen while the iPhone 6S continues with the equivalent of 720p. One may have to wait until the next generation to see QHD screens on the iPhone.
The wishes of many consumers have been fulfilled in this aspect since Apple finally upgrades the ageing eight-megapixel camera. This camera certainly held out against the best in the segment for a long time. However, signs of ageing have started to appear in recent months with the competition boasting a number of new age features. It was time for Apple to provide a significant update and it has come in the form of a new 12-megapixel shooter in the rear. The front camera has also been improved to a five-megapixel sensor.
iPhones were already one of the best ways to take selfies, and it has just got better on the new iPhone 6S or the iPhone 6S Plus. The crucial difference between the two phones in the camera department is the presence of optical image stabilization in the latter. This feature has now been extended to pictures as well. It was previously only available for the videos recorded using the iPhone 6S Plus. Both phones are similar in their ability to shoot 4K videos.
Apple faced some criticism with the poor battery life of the iPhone 6 and it has taken steps to ensure that this generation does not face similar issues. It comes with a 1715 mAh battery that may be smaller than in the previous generation, but the overall phone is much more efficient. This is down to better process utilization even from the operating system. The new iOS 9 debuts in the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. The iPhone 6S Plus has also seen a reduction in the size of the battery to 2750 mAh, but the expectation is that it will last around the same as before. The iPhone 6S Plus can easily last a day on a full charge. Prices of the two phones are going to be very similar to the current generation when they become available worldwide in the next few weeks.
