Google Releases New Huawei and LG Nexus Smartphones
The much awaited Google event finally went down in San Francisco this week Wednesday.
In the company’s latest attempt to take a portion of the U.S. smartphone market that is dominated by Apple, two new smartphones were unveiled, the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X.
The new Android M-based Google smartphones come in just a few days after Apple officially put iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on sale. The Cupertino-based company announced record sales of these new iPhones during the first week of their release, a feat that is believed to be stemming from the fact that China was included in the launch countries of these devices for the first time in Apple’s history.
Specifications and pricing
The Nexus 5X will exchange hands at $379, but this is for the base model of 16GB internal storage. If this space is not enough for you, there is a 32GB model available at $429. These are not bad deals for a phone that features a 5.2-inch 1080p display screen, a Snapdragon 808 chipset, a 12.3MP rear snapper and a 5MP front snapper.
The Nexus 6P, on the other hand, will cost $499 for the 32GB model while the 64GB model will cost $549. The top model, which has 128GB of on-board storage, will cost $649. Again, these prices match fairly with what you get on this phone, namely a 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED display screen, a Qualcomm-based Snapdragon 810 processor with eight cores and a RAM of 3GB. Also, the Nexus 6P will be equipped with a 12.3MP rear snapper and a much better 8MP snapper on the front.
Both devices come with support for the latest USB Type-C connectors in addition to a fingerprint scanner on the rear.
The latest Nexus devices are a representation of what Google can do in the handset industry. However, this line of products has never enjoyed similar sales as what iPhones enjoy. Nonetheless, it is expected that Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P will shake the market a little bit with their much more advanced features, hardware as well as software.
Nexus 5X is made by LG while Huawei makes nexus 6P
Google went for Asian partners in the latest production of Nexus series of devices. For the Nexus 5X, South Korea’s LG took its place beside Google while China’s Huawei took the other hand of Google with respect to the Nexus 6P.
The 6P weighs 178g, has a large battery unit of 3450mAh and it features three color variants that include black, silver and white. On the other hand, the 5X weighs 136g, has a smaller battery unit of 2700mAh and it’s available in three color variants of blue, white and black.
