Motorola Moto X Play Starts to Make More Sense with Enhanced Battery Life
Motorola has announced two variants for the Moto X, namely the Moto X Style and the Moto X Play, where the former is more focused on aesthetics and the latter is more focused on entertainment.
It comes in two versions of 16 GB and 32 GB.
Design and Dimensions
The X Play comes in the form of a phablet with a screen measuring 5.5 inches. It is not bulky and feels comfortable while holding. The dimensions are 148 x 75 x 10.9 mm and it weighs 169 grams. It has a curved back, with the thickness actually starting at 8.9 mm. It is water repellant, so it should be okay if you accidentally get caught in a shower.
The screen has a resolution of 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 401 ppi, similar to the iPhone 6 Plus. The screen is bright and the Lollipop 5.1.1 version is impressive on this screen, being as close as possible to stock Android, without much bloatware or skins. However, it is customizable and offers a great Google experience.
The X Play from Motorola is powered by a 1.7 GHz, Qualcomm Snapdragon, with 615 octa core CPU and a graphics card with Adreno 405, GPU, accompanied by a RAM of 2 GB.
The rear camera has a resolution of 21 MP and offers amazing pictures. There are also additional features in the camera, with a blue filter for front and rear cameras. This means that infrared is not present; so pictures appear more natural and offer more accurate colors. The phone comes with a front camera of 5 MP. The dual LED comes with Temperature (color correlated) features, resulting in improved color accuracy while using flash. Selfies also look more natural.
One of the biggest advantages is the batter with a capacity of 3630 mAh, supposed to last for two whole days with one charge, though you might be using 4G LTE or any other features that are battery intensive. Another plus point is the Turbo Charge, which is a very fast and sports quick charging technology, offering it 8 hours of life within fifteen minutes of charging.
The Moto X Play comes with a great camera and a good screen, equipped with stock Android. It is offered at a reasonable price and offers a lot of promise. It is a decent phone with a large screen, but the design may not be very exciting enough for some. The X Play seems to make a lot of more sense, considering its epic battery features. You can get all the advantages of the flagship phone and also save money in the bargain. You need not carry your charger with you all the time. It may not be able to compare with other similar priced devices, in all its specifications and features. However, it can last for two whole days with a single charge; so if you give priority to battery life, the phone is really worth considering. In addition, there is the fun of customization using the Moto Maker, which also makes it stand out.
