iOS 9 vs. iOS 8 – What New Features Did Apple Bring?

1

Last year, when the iOS 8 was launched, the fans had some complaints against its performance, because it was draining the battery quickly and this problem wasn’t solved even if Apple brought many updates. The iOS 9 turned out to be laggy and came with a few bugs, but a few things have changed and if you’re curious to find out more about its new feature, check out this article.

The interface of the iOS 9 was redesigned, but this is something normal for each new operating system and below, we’ll tell you about the most important visual changes.

Notification Center

Apple brought a new Notification Center, by splitting the drawer into two sections. The left side contains the today view and widgets, while in the right side are found the notifications. But this feature will definitely make a difference for the iPad users which will use their tablets in landscape mode. Also, the users can sort notifications by time and date, since Apple found it easier to implement chronology in iOS 9.

A New Font

The system font has been replaced with the San Francisco font, which made its debut on the Apple Watch. In the past, Apple used the Helvetica, then it was replaced by Helvetica Neue in iOS 7. OS X suffered also changes, replacing Lucida Grande with Helvetica Neue.

Apps Switcher

Long time ago, the apps switcher was only a bar at the bottom of the OS and had app icons. In iOS 7, Apple changed it to a list of items and there were cards that previewed applications. It seems that Android Lollipop’s apps tray was an inspiration for Apple, because in iOS 9, you will find a scrolling stack of app preview cards but Apple used a sideways scrolling, while in Android it’s used the forward and back method.

Apps tray

In the previous operating system, to access the apps tray, the users swiped to the left of the card which contained the home screen. Now, to access an application, the users call up on the card which is placed at the bottom of the display. Apple removed the recent contacts list which was sitting at the top of iOS 8, which hasn’t very ideal because of the badly chosen location.

App improvements

The mail app allows the users to include more than five images in their messages, while Photos has a new feature at the bottom of the screen, which allows the users to recycle through their photos.
