iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, 6 Plus or 6S Plus – Which One Deserves To Be Bought?

1

When it comes to Apple’s products, it doesn’t matter how old they are, because people still want them. The iPhone 5S was the last 4-inch smartphone, because Apple made the big step to 4.7-inch screens, and last year, besides the iPhone 6, the company has released also a phablet version. This year, Apple released improved versions of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which support the new 3D Touch technology, integrated into their screens. So, which phone to buy?

Designs and Displays

All iPhones have aluminum constructions, but the iPhone 5S is the smallest and has two wide white bands on the back (at the top and bottom), while the screen measures 4-inch and supports a resolution of 640×1136 pixels at 326ppi.

The iPhone 6 has been upgraded to a 4.7-inch screen with a higher resolution of 750×1334 pixel, but the pixel density has remained the same. This time, the edges have become curvier and Apple replaced the wide bands from the back with thin lines.

The iPhone 6 Plus is the first Apple phablet with a 5.5-inch screen, which supports a Full HD resolution at 401ppi, but the design is identical to the iPhone 6.

The iPhone 6S looks the same as the iPhone 6, but it features a tougher aluminum alloy (7000 series) which is a bit thicker, so the device doesn’t bend anymore. In addition, there is a new technology which allows the users to interact more easily with their phones. The 3D Touch technology detects various levels of pressure (soft or hard) and will improve the user experience by launching different actions.

The iPhone 6S Plus benefits from the same changes as the iPhone 6S, but it’s worth mentioning that both devices have a new color option – Rose Gold.

Hardware

The iPhone 5S is the oldest, so it has a much weaker Apple A7 dual-core 1.3 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) processor, which couples with 1GB RAM DDR3. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are powered by an Apple A8 dual-core 1.4GHz Typhoon (ARM v8-based) processor which is paired with the same RAM capacity, while the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus come with the latest Apple A9 dual-core 1.84GHz processor which is now coupled with 2GB of RAM.

Cameras

The iPhone 5S, 6 and 6 Plus have identical camera resolutions: 8MP on the back and 1.2MP on the front, only that the phablet received a new feature – optical image stabilization. The pair of new iPhones came with upgraded cameras of 12MP (back, with 4K video recording) and 5MP (front) and they have new features such as Live Photos.

Batteries

The iPhone 5S has a small battery of 1560mAh battery which has a disappointing lifespan of ten hours (when calling over 3D). The iPhone 6 is powered by a larger 1810mAh battery with 14 hours of talking time, the iPhone 6 Plus has a much larger 2915mAh battery which lasts 24 hours, while both the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus have slightly reduced batteries of 1715mAh and 2750mAh respectively. However, Apple introduced a new power saving mode which should extend the battery life by three hours.
