Viber 5.6 Available On The Market – Maximum Character Limit Expanded
The developers behind Viber have been releasing lots of new updates in the past months and the transitions were smooth, without having a huge impact on the performance of the application. The latest version Viber 5.6 brings two new features, but we’ll talk about them in the following article.
Before mentioning the five changes in Viber 5.6, we will tell you more information about this application. In April 2015, there were 249 million people who were using it daily and it seems that the number is slowly increasing, considering that in February 2014 there were only 100 million active users. The application is available for Android, iOS, BlackBerry OS, Series 40, Symbian, Bada, Windows Phone, Mac OS and Microsoft Windows, but there is also a version for Linux (64bit) which comes in .deb and .rpm.
When registering to Viber, you will use your personal phone number, then you will be able to log in from your computer, as well. The application allows its users to send messages containing texts, images, videos and to make HD-quality voice calls to other Viber users, if both sides own either an iPhone, an Android device or a phone that runs on Windows Phone,
The interface is quite simple, having a tab bar on the bottom which gives access to messages, recent calls, contacts and the keypad, but there is also another button which gives access to more options.
There are more users who have an Android device, so the developers have focused on improving the application for this platform. In Viber 5.6 APK was introduced a new heart which sits next to each message in group chats (now, you can see who “loves” your vibe), while the maximum length of the messages has been increased to 7,000 characters, so you can write freely.
In addition, public chats are now available for the Android tablets, the video calling feature has been improved and with the Forward Public Chat messages, you can easily share content with your friends.
