Android Marshmallow was announced by Google this summer and was scheduled to be launched this fall season, Now, the Nexus devices are the first ones to enjoy the Android M update.
When Android Lollipop came out in 2014, all major brands and manufacturers started to roll out lists, these lists contained the devices that were meant to receive the new upgrade. And as history repeats itself, the same thing is now happening with the Android Marshmallow upgrade.
Sony is the next major brand that is preparing its devices for the big upgrade, in the past, the latter company is known for being quite prompt when it comes to such upgrades. Here is Sony’s list of devices that are ready to embrace this new Android M upgrade:
- Xperia Z5 as well as Xperia Z5 Compact;
- Xperia Z5 Premium;
- Xperia Z4 Tablet;
- Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact;
- Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact;
- Xperia Z2 and the Xperia Z2 Tablet;
- Xperia M5;
- Xperia C5 Ultra;
- Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4.
You might notice that the Xperia Z, the Z1 and the M2 are not on the list, but it is no wonder since some of the latter devices have already been on the market for some time (we are talking about Sony’s Xperia Z and Z1 model) and have had their share of upgrades in the past two years. However, things are still uncertain on whether or not the Xperia M2 will receive the Android Marshmallow upgrade. Given the fact that it was launched a year ago, the update is to be expected but then again who knows what the future will bring? Not to worry, because Sony might elongate its list with the passing of time.
