iOS 9.0.2 Jailbreak Release Date – When Should We Expect It?

3

On September 16, Apple released iOS 9.0, during the launch event of the iPhone 6S. The users can also test the iOS 9.1 “Boulder”, which is in beta, or they can update their iPhones to the latest stable version iOS 9.0.2, but they can’t jailbreak their devices yet, because none of the jailbreaking teams have managed to jailbreak any of the new versions of iOS 9, but they promised us to do that by the end of this month.

A few days ago, Apple released the iOS 9.1 beta 4 and the final update will be available by the end of October. Meanwhile, the most popular teams of jailbreakers, TaiG and Pangu, have been working hard on defeating a new “demon”, which is the Kernel Patch Protection and they are confident that soon enough, they will be able to crack the iOS 9 and they’re motivated by the $1 million reward, offered by ZERODIUM, if any of them will manage to jailbreak iOS 9.

Some rumors suggest that Pangu is collaborating with a veteran jailbreaker called K33n, and it seems that the team has hidden the Cydia app inside some other applications and once they are downloaded to an iPhne, the user must restart the device and Cydia is automatically installed. In order to benefit from the latest applications from the Cydia store, the Apple users must upgrade their devices to iOS 9, 9.0.1 or 9.0.2.

Regarding the Kernel Patch Protection, Nikias Bassen, the famous iOS security researcher told iDigitalTimes that “If you want to do things like a jailbreak, you have to patch the kernel. This new protection has checksum checks on certain regions of the kernel so when you try to patch something the system will panic.”

The big problem is that once the devices are updated to a newer iOS 9 version, they can’t be downgraded, because Apple stopped supporting iOS 8.4.1. However, there is still good news, as the jailbreaker Luca Todesco managed to break this version and he announced that on its Twitter account. He also added that the final solution will be released soon enough.
