LG Nexus 5X vs. LG G4 – What Did LG Changed For Google?
LG created the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 for Google and they were so successful that the American multinational technology company wanted another Nexus with an affordable price and high end specs. So, the Nexus 5X is LG’s third smartphone for Google and it’s better looking than the LG G4, but it has the same processor. We’ll compare the two devices and see how different they are.
Designs, Dimensions and Displays
While the LG G3 had a plastic back with a brushed metal effect, the LG G4 came with ceramic-coated metallic plastic backing (diamond pattern) and there’s another variant with genuine leather, which has stitches running down the middle of the back, which is a bit curved, fir a better grip. The device weights 155grams and it has a thickness of 9.8mm, while the screen measures 5.5-inch and it’s an IPS LCD with a QHD resolution of 1440×2560 pixels at 538ppi. Compared to the previous LG G3, this phone has a 25 percent brighter display.
The Nexus 5X has a simple plastic back like the previous Nexus 5, but the shape is now rectangular and it has a protruding circular rear camera with a fingerprint scanner under it. The successor has a larger body with a thickness of 7.9mm and it weights 136grams, while the screen is an IPS sized at 5.2-inch. However, the Full HD resolution is still present, but the pixel density has been decreased to 424ppi.
LG equipped the G Flex 2 with a Snapdragon 810 octa core processor, but for the G4 and the Nexus 5X, the company used the previous Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor, because it doesn’t have those annoying overheating issues. However, the Nexus 5X has 2GB of RAM and two variants of internal storage, which is limited to 16 and 32GB, while the LG G4 is packed with 3GB of RAM and its internal memory of 32GB can be expanded up to 128GB.
The LG G4 sports a more advanced 16MP sensor which supports laser autofocus, an aperture of f/1.8 and OIS, and in low light conditions can be used the dual-tone LED Flash. As for the front camera, it has a resolution of 8MP and the same aperture.
The Nexus 5X comes with a weaker 12.3MP Sony IMX377 sensor with dual-LED (dual tone) flash and 1.55µm pixel size, but it lacks OIS. The front camera takes average quality selfies, as the resolution is 5MP.
The LG G4 is powered by a battery of 3000mAh which is removable and lasts around 20 hours when making calls over 3G. The Nexus 5X houses a smaller battery of 2700mAh, but it lacks an optional wireless charger. However, both models support a quick charge feature.
