If you own an Android device and you’re constantly messaging your buddies on WhatsApp, then you’re in for some good news. You will no longer have to dread the fact that your WhatsApp messages will be lost. With the rollout of the Google Drive backup option, Android users can now easily save their chats as well as their photos and video content.
According to Google Drive Director of Product Management “…you don’t want your memories stuck on your phone. (What if something happens?!) So starting today, WhatsApp for Android lets you create a private backup of your chat history, voice messages, photos and videos in Google Drive. And once you do, you can restore everything on a new device with just a couple of taps,” he concludes. Users are excited to get their hands on this feature and apparently “The new backup feature is rolling out over in the next few months, so keep an eye on your WhatsApp settings to see if it’s available,” Johnston stated in a post. So, it is official as WhatsApp’s own site validated this information.
The Google Drive backup element will roll out for all Android devices. Once you update your WhatsApp, if you go to Settings you can manually choose the Chats and Calls and then think of the rhythm/periodicity you wish to choose for backing up your data( if you want this action to be performed on a daily basis or a monthly one for instance). So from now on you will no longer have to worry about loosing some of your most precious messages or even content.
However, for now WhatsApp hasn’t revealed a specific date and time for when this option will be made accessible. WhatsApp is gathering supporters and fans worldwide. The company recently exposed that 900 million individuals are using the latter app on a regular basis.
