Huawei Ascend P7, Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge Are Receiving Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA Update

1

The owners of Huawei Ascend P7, Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge should get ready to update their devices to the Android 5.1.1, the latest Android Lollipop build. This update will be released over-the-air (OTA), but the keep in mind that depending on the region you live in and the carrier you’re connected to, it may take some time until you till receive it.

According to GSMArena, the owners of the Huawei Ascend P7 are able to manually download the firmware from Huawei’s website. But they will need to manually install the Android Lollipop on their devices, which is a bit more complicated, the firmware file has a size of 1.26GB and this is the reason why we suggest you to download it only when you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, to not waste the mobile data.

The owners of the Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy Note Edge that have their devices connected to AT&T should be also prepared for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. The file has a size of around 693MB and the update comes a few weeks later after it was released for the Galaxy Note 4 worldwide.

AT&T didn’t release yet the notes for this update, but according to some users who already updated their Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy Note Edge to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, this new update comes with many improvements and their devices are running smoother than before (especially when it comes to multitasking).

It’s not clear yet if this update will come with the fix for the Stagefright vulnerability, but since the international version didn’t have it, most likely, this one won’t have it either.

You can manually check for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA update for your Huawei Ascend P7, Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy Note 5 by going to your device’s Settings->About Phone->Software Update.

Have you updated any of these three devices to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop yet?
