Moto X Style vs. Moto X Play – Do You Know The Differences Between Them?

0

The Moto X Style and X Play are the two phablets which Motorola has released this fall. The fans were expecting a successor of the Moto X 2014, but instead, they had to choose between the larger Moto X Style with better specs, and the smaller Moto X Play with mid-range specs. So, let’s see what the differences between them are.

Display

First of all, let’s talk about their seizes, and we’ll specify that the Moto X Style has a 5.7-inch screen whose resolution is Quad HD (1440×2560 pixels), resulting in a pixel density of 520ppi, while its “smaller” brother has a 5.5-inch screen with a Full-HD resolution (1080×1920 pixels) with 403ppi, however, both screens are IPS and protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Performance

The larger Moto X Style is packed with a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 (MSM8992) processor with two cores running at 1.8GHz, while the other four cores are clocked at 1.44GHz, and they’re backed by Adreno 418 graphics and 3GB of RAM. The Moto X Play falls into the category of mid-range smartphones, as it houses an older Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 with four cores running at 1.7GHz, while the other four cores are clocked at 1GHz, and they’re backed by less efficient Adreno 405 graphics and 2GB of RAM, so the performance is lower, but still decent.

Internal Memory

Both devices have variants with capacities of 16 and 32GB, which can be expanded up to 128GB, but the Moto X Style has a third variant whose capacity is more generous – 64GB.

Cameras

Both phones have rear cameras of 21MP, but only the Moto X Style is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps, while its front camera has a LED flash for taking excellent selfies at night.

Batteries

This time, the Moto X Play gives its bigger brother a lesson, as it stands out with a massive 3630 mAh battery which should last two days under normal use, Moto X Style has only a 3000mAh battery which performs well in real world.

Customization

Both devices are water resistant (featuring a water repellent coating) and have a plastic back with diagonal lines. However, on the Moto Maker website, the customers can choose a different material for the backing plate of the Pure Edition, as the available options are wood and leather, with a variety of colors.
