Viber 5.6 for Android and iOS Adds New Features: Group Likes, Enhanced Video Messaging and More

1

Viber is a very popular instant messaging and calling application that is used on both mobile and PC platforms.

The app has more than 606 million users from all over the world, but a large part of this user base is based in Asia.

If you visit the Google Play Store, you will notice that the app has more than 100 million downloads. This is partly because the app was first launched for iOS devices, but later on, it moved to Android and other mobile platforms. These two platforms are the main dominant figures when it comes to the mobile world, and it is the major reason these platforms usually lead the way when it comes to receiving Viber updates and new features.

Latest Viber 5.6 is available for iOS and Android devices

The new version of Viber, which was rolled out just this week, is available for free download for both users of Android and iOS devices. As of now, those using the app on Windows Phone will again have to sit back and wait for their turn to come in as this update only caters for the two major platforms.

There a few new features that have stepped in addition to bug fixes from previous versions as well as improvements in performance and functionality.

The first thing you will notice is a new Group Likes feature that enables users to like the messages that others members have sent in a group. In this way, you will be able to know easily who likes your vibe and who doesn’t.

Write freely and share Public Chats

The new Viber 5.6 for iOS and Android also comes in with a feature for sharing content with friends in a much easier way. It will now be possible for users to forward a Public Chat message to another user of the free calling platform. This Public Chat feature, which was previously available on smartphones alone, has also been updated to the new version, where it can now be used on tablets.

The more than 606 million people who use Viber on a monthly basis will now be able to write freely thanks to the new limit of 7,000 characters per message. Furthermore, the video messaging experience of Viber is now much better than any other previous version, but the exact details of which aspects have been stepped up have not been availed.

If you are using an Android device, make sure it is installed with v4.0 and above before trying to update to the latest version of Viber 5.6, which is available via the Google Play Store. In case of an iOS device, the new version needs at least v7.0 and above, and it is available via the iTunes App Store.
