If you own an Android device, then you’re probably guessing when or if the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS will be released for your phone. Well, if the device is a Nexus, then you will surely get the latest Android OS sooner if it’s a newer model.
It is good to know that Google has already released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update to its Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9, Nexus Player and even to its Android One smartphones.
On the other hand, HTC has also confirmed that this new firmware update will be released for some devices manufactured by this company before the end of 2015. At the same time, LG, Sony, Samsung and other companies have confirmed that they are working on bringing this new Android OS update to some of their devices.
For instance, Sony has confirmed that its Xperia Z3, Z3+, M4 Aqua, Xperia C4, Z4 Tablet, Z5 Premium, Z2, Z5 Compact, C5 Ultra and Z5 will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in this order. Unfortunately, the company didn’t say when this will happen, but we’re assuming that it will be sometime in early 2016.
In the meantime, Sony has revealed the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) Android 6.0 Marshmallow configuration and the binary files for its devices. This will allow the developers to run the software on the compatible handsets so they can test it out.
However, if you are not a developer or someone who knows what to do with these files, we suggest you to just stay away from them until an official Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update will be released for your Xperia device.
When do you think that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update will be released on the Xperia devices?
