LG Nexus 5X vs. HTC One M9 – What Do They Have In Common?

0

HTC’s decision to stick to the old design of the One M8 wasn’t very appreciated by the fans because they were expecting some important changes and instead, the successor came with a different rear camera and a dual-tone body, meaning that the frame has a different color than the metal back. Google has given LG a third chance to make a Nexus device and this model is also cheap, good looking and pretty powerful, but its body is made of plastic. So, if you’re curious which device has more advantages, read this comparison.

Designs and Displays

As we were saying, the One M9 has a metal body, and the color options are Gunmetal Gray, Amber Gold, Silver/Rose gold, Gold/Pink and Pink, but the rear camera has now a square lens instead of a circular one and there is a new small lip which provides a better grip. The device gained 0.2mm of thickness, measuring now 9.6mm, while it weights 157 grams. The screen hasn’t been changed at all, retaining the size of 5-inch and it uses the same Super LCD3 technology that offers a Full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 441 ppi.

LG used a polycarbonate material in order to cut costs for the production of the Nexus 5X, but the design is pretty appealing and there are three variants of colors you can choose from: Carbon, Quartz and Ice. The device is a lot slimmer, measuring 7.9mm, but it’s also lighter at 136 grams, although the screen has a longer diagonal of 5.2-inch. The technology is LCD, but LG opted for a Full HD resolution which doesn’t consume the battery fast. However, the images are sharper because the pixel density is higher at 424ppi.

Hardware

The One M9 is older, but it received the faster Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 octa core processor which was paired with 3GB of RAM, but this hardware is known for having overheating issues and it kills the battery if you’ll do more things simultaneously.

The Nexus 5X is doing well with a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor, but it supports 2GB of RAM and the performance is a lot weaker, but at least the overheating problems are not that obvious.

The Nexus 5X doesn’t provide a microSD card slot and there are two options of storage capacities: 16GB and 32GB, while the One M9 allows expansion from 32GB up to 128GB.

Cameras and Batteries

HTC moved the 4MP Ultrapixel camera from the back of the One M8 to the front of the M9 and it used a 20MP sensor with autofocus and dual-LED, while the battery is non-removable and has a capacity of 2840mAh.

The Nexus 5X has only a 12.3MP rear camera which lacks OIS, but it has other important features such as laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash and the battery is relatively smaller at 2700mAh. Wireless charging isn’t available for any of these devices, but at least they come with the Quick Charge 2.0 feature provided by the Qualcomm processor.
