According to the latest leaks and rumors, the Galaxy S7 will be the smartphone that is worth waiting for. The flagships will come with a glass and magnesium construction and will feature a 20MP camera, not a 16MP one, as it was previously rumored. What’s more important is the new digital-to-analog converter ESS SABRE 9018AQ2M, which is surely one of the most powerful audio chips that have been built for mobile devices.
The Galaxy S7 won’t be the first smartphone to have this DAC, as other devices from Meizu and Vivo already came with them on board. Until now, Samsung’s handsets used Wolfson DACs and it’s still unknown the reason for switching to ESS DACs.
However, we’ve heard that Samsung intends to make Jay Z’s Tidal music service a partner and it’s true, then the users will be listening to “lossless high-fidelity tunes”. And this rumor was launched right after Jay Z visited Samsung’s office in California.
The Galaxy S6 was released in April, but it seems that Samsung will rush to bring the S7 earlier, like in January. It’s still unconfirmed information, so you should take it with a bit of salt.
Regarding the internal specs, the rumors are offering three versions of possible configurations. The Galaxy S7 will have a model that will be powered by an Exynos 8890 processor, the second model will have a weaker Exynos 7422 processor, while the third model will have Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 820 chipset. But these models won’t be all available in the same region, because Samsung is planning to release them in different parts of the world.
The battery will be charged via the USB Type-C port, the screen will have an unchanged size (5.2-inch) and will support 4K resolution, likewise the phablet version, which will have a screen with a diagonal of 5.7-inch.
