A Study of Some Noteworthy Features of the Nokia Lumia 930

1

The Nokia Lumia 930 is a Windows phone from Nokia before it integrated with the giant leader Microsoft.

Interestingly, this is the last Lumia offering from Nokia. Announced towards the middle of 2014, this smartphone caters to medium budget customers. With an array of bright and subtle colors to choose from, the battery is inbuilt and cannot be removed by the user. The Lumia 930 houses provision for a nano SIM and is a single SIM handset. Apart from the normal audio call, you can use the device for conference calls and video calls as well.

Design, Body Material and Dimensions

Although the 930 does not have very sharp corners, they are not as rounded as the corners of some of the other smartphones in the Nokia Lumia series. The device houses a full metal body. In other words, the gadget encompasses an aluminum frame as its casing. This gives the Nokia Lumia 930 a truly well-designed look and feel. And the fact that the frame is metal makes the Lumia 930 a rugged handset. Thus with this gadget, you are sure to get the best of both worlds – looks plus sturdiness. Regarding the dimensions, the smartphone is sized at 131 x 71 x 9.8 mm (L x W x D) and weighs 167g. It fits comfortably in your hand. Like most other Nokia phones, the 930 has buttons for phone locking/unlocking, camera shutter and volume control on its side.

Screen Display, Resolution and Pixel Density

Nokia has opted to use an AMOLED ClearBlack display for its Nokia Lumia 930. With a decent screen size of 5 inches, the Lumia handset has a pretty okay pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920 and an excellent pixel density of 441ppi. Equipped with a brightness control feature and a wide viewing angle, the Lumia 930 display glass is made of an easily cleanable Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that makes it scratch-resistant. Sunlight readability is also greatly improved in this smartphone. The touch screen is also highly sensitive.

Camera

The 930 has a whopping 20MP rear camera with dual LED flash. Supporting two-stage capturing and autofocus, the camera lens can focus to a minimum range of 10 cm. The lens used in the camera incorporates Carl Zeiss optics technology. Face detection, PureView technology, panorama, optical image stabilization and high resolution zoom are some key highlights of the snapper. Thanks to the optical image stabilization facility, you can enjoy taking your favorite shots even in surroundings with low lighting just as when there is sufficient lighting. Also, due to the PureView technology, the images and videos shot with the camera are of excellent quality. As for the front camera, the Nokia Lumia 930 incorporates a 1.2MP camera with wide angle facility. Other than taking selfies, this camera can be used to shoot still images, record Full HD 1080p videos and even making video calls with your buddies. There are a lot of camera apps exclusive to Lumia that you can explore for getting the best of your Lumia 930 smartphone camera. These cameras help in doing various tasks with your camera which may be as simple as taking selfies or a bit more complex as trimming an extremely long video.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The 930 handset houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, a quad core Krait 400 processor clocking at 2.2GHz and an Adreno 330 graphics processor. The 2GB RAM is also, comparatively, a tad more than what is present in some other Nokia Lumia smartphones. It comes with Windows 8.1 preloaded. The good news is that there is a planned upgrade to Windows 10 for this smartphone. Apart from this, there is also a Touch UI and a whole lot of interesting general and Lumia specific apps. There is also 32GB inbuilt ROM as storage memory. The flip side of this Lumia 930 is that it does not allow you to expand the memory already provided with it.

Battery

The Nokia Lumia 930 is designed with a powerful 2,420 mAh battery that has a standby time of 16 days and reasonable talk plus music and video playback times. The battery also supports wireless charging option which is actually a good thing to have for any smartphone. Making use of the battery saving feature, you can be assured of your handset being on for a slightly longer time than normal once it is fully charged.
