LG Nexus 5X vs. HTC One A9 – Does the Nexus Brand Still Hold an Advantage?

0

The Nexus brand of smartphoneshas been some of the first to offer the latest versions of Android and it has been their biggest strength.

But more and more manufacturers are starting to offer updates significantly faster as is the case proven by HTC with its latest HTC One A9. This device has the same Android 6.0 operating system like the latest LG Nexus 5X.

Design

The LG Nexus 5X is largely similar to the recent crop of smartphones from LG whereas the HTC One A9 appears to be a blatant copy of the iPhone 6S. However, HTC has stressed the fact that the HTC One A9 is simply a new version of the HTC One M8, which was one of the first phones to come with analuminum finish in the rear coupled with antenna bands running across horizontally.

Battery

In the search for beautiful design, HTC One A9 appears to compromise on a few elements of battery life. Despite having a 5-inch screen, the phone only comes with a 2150 mAh battery. Of course, it is helped by features like fast charging that help take the battery percent from 0 to 75% in just 30 minutes on the plug. The Android 6.0 operating system also comes with a variety of battery saving options like sleep mode. These are sure to help the One A9 get out anything remaining out of the tiny battery.

The LG Nexus 5X is not much better in this regard, but it does have a 2700 mAh battery in the rear. This may have added a few millimeters to the overall thickness of the device, but it is more than a welcome change. The LG Nexus 5X is one of the first to run on the Android 6.0 OS and it is not surprising that it extremely resources friendly. The phone will be able to last for a similar time to that of the One A9.

Camera

HTC provides an excellent 13-megapixel rear camera complete with features like optical image stabilization. The 12.3-megapixel camera on the LG Nexus 5X may be a shade lower regarding megapixels, but it has all the latest high-end features from LG like laser autofocus.

The LG Nexus 5X is priced at around $380 while the HTC will cost around $400.
