OnePlus One Offers the Best Deal for a Mid Range Device – Get it when It is Hot
The OnePlus One has increased its price after a year, but still seems a pretty good bargain despite the price hike.
It offers high-end features at a reasonable price. The Android phone runs on 4.4.2 version KitKat, available in two models of 16 GB and 64 GB. In the beginning, it was necessary to have an invite for buying the device, but now the system has been eliminated and you can purchase the OnePlus One without any restriction.
The phone has been put together nicely and is made of top quality materials. There is an outer rim of chrome surrounding a glass display. As for dimensions, it is 153 x 76 x 8.9 mm and has a weight of 162 grams. It is not a very slim or light device, but feels solid and has ergonomic features. The finish on the back is soft and pleasant to hold. It is available in black and in white.
The screen is 5.5 inches, with IPS LCD technology, a capacitive touchscreen having 16 colors. The resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels and the density is 401 ppi. It is perfect for web browsing, viewing pictures and movies, with sharp text and excellent viewing angles. Multitouch works effectively and it includes the Corning Gorilla, Glass 3.
A Qualcomm, MSM8974AC, Snapdragon 801, with quad core, Krait chipset, clocking at a speed of 2.5 GHz, powers the phone. This is combined with a RAM of 3 GB with a graphics card Adreno 330 GPU. Several connectivity options, such as 4G LTE and NFC, along with Bluetooth 4.0 version and Wi Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac are available.
The performance is slick and snappy, even if you are running several processes. Heavy games also run quite well and it is equal to other devices in the Android segment. The performance is on par with other costlier flagship devices.
The storage is rather disappointing, with the 16 GB version and the 64 GB one, but 32 GB is strangely missing. In addition, you cannot expand the storage with an external card. The 64 GB version comes with 54.8 GB of free space, but some users might miss the expandable storage feature.
It has a resolution of 13 MP and dual LED, Flash, with an aperture of f/2.0, for the primary camera. There are 6 physical lenses, so the performance is good even in low light conditions. Other features include geo tagging and touch focus as well as face detection, HDR. Panorama is available and videos can be captured up to a resolution of 2160, 4K, at 30 frames per second. The front camera has a resolution of 5 MP and captures Full HD video images at 1080 pixels and 30 fps.
It runs on the Android 4.4.2, KitKat version, but the version is customized with CyanogenMode. However, users can access Google Play. You can also opt for a customized OnePlus skin or get the vanilla, Android UI. In fact, users can build their own skin using CyanogenMod themes and tweak icons and fonts, wallpaper and so on.
At the price it is being sold at, it is a great deal, though the only problem is that storage is not expandable. However, it is a great flagship device available at a mid range price, so get it when it is hot.
