Sony Xperia M5 Comes With Killer Specs at a Mid Range Price
The Xperia M5 is not merely a quick upgrade to the M4 Aqua.
It is a totally new device coming at a mid range price, but manages to compete successfully with some of the top flagship devices.
The M5 continues to sport the classic look of the Xperia line, with enhancements to the waterproof and the dustproof features. There is not much change to the appearance, but there are some minor changes, such as the earpiece and the mouthpiece being placed in front. The USB port has also been shifted and is now found on the bottom near the phone’s mono speaker. Three color versions are available, black, white as well as gold. The weight and the thickness of the device are perfect for handling with a single hand.
The display is of 5 inches with an FHD resolution of 1080 pixels with a whopping pixel density of 441. This is a top end feature in a mid range phone. Everything is perfect, such as the viewing angles and the picture quality as well as color reproduction. The screen comes with IPS LCD technology. This is the Bravia Engine, Sony’s proprietary technology and it offers a crisp display.
The device comes with a 21.2 MP sensor and a 13 MP secondary camera. Images are sharp with good details, accuracy in colors as well as exposure. The shooter is very good for the price, with a quick focusing speed. It also has the capability of 4K, UHD for video recordings, which is due to Helio X10 chip from MediaTek. The selfie camera has an excellent auto feature along with the Portrait mode.
The usual goodies of the 5.0 Lollipop version of Android come pre installed, along with some Google applications. However, the animated theme of Xperia is missing. It offers a high product with an almost pure vanilla Android version.
The M5 is capable of handling heavy multitasking efficiently. All apps open quickly and you can play games smoothly and snappily. It runs on the Helio X10, which is not the quickest, but as it has been combined with a RAM of 3 GB, the resulting speed is more than enough.
There are no stereo speakers on the front of the phone, but the mono speaker is very effective and produces crisp audio output with good quality. The volume is powerful enough as well.
You can use the M5 for two days with a single charge. This is because of the combination of the octa core chip with a battery of 2600 mAh. However, the user cannot replace the battery. Even with a heavier use, it still lasts for an entire day. In addition, the phone comes with Stamina mode as well as Ultra Stamina one. Both these modes result in enhanced standby time.
The M5 is an excellent device, but the price is rather steep. However, given the capabilities, the price is reasonable. The camera features are high end and the display is crisp and bright. The design of the phone is excellent and is capable of holding its own against some of the more expensive flagship devices available in the market today.
