Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book Receive a Second Firmware Update – Best Improved Upgrade
Microsoft has released a new firmware update for the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book.
Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book – New Firmware Update: What’s New?
It seems that the new update comes with a new HD Graphics 520 driver update (version 126.96.36.19908), which addresses some display problems. This includes the display issues that made the screen flickering.
At the same time, the display audio driver update was updated with the new version 188.8.131.529 that is compatible with the updated graphics driver. The Surface System Aggregator firmware update version 88.853.258.0 comes with improvements to the keyboard and trackpad experience, while the Surface embedded controller firmware update version 88.855.257.0 comes with improvements to the system stability.
This is the second firmware update for both of these devices and if you didn’t update it yet, then you should do it right away. To do this go to Start->Settings->Update & Security->Windows Update->Check for update. We remind you that the update is rolling in batches, meaning that you might receive the update sooner or later.
However, since there are not so many Surface Pro 4 and Surface Books devices sold until now, it’s pretty hard to image why there would be any reasons for the delay.
Other Issues Which Need To Be Fixed
There are still many problems that need to be fixed on both the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. According to a report from reddit, the Microsoft Edge and Firefox browsers are crashing. There are users who have reported that the update doesn’t fix the boot up bug with the Type Cover flipped to the back or the scroll initiation on the right side of the trackpad has less sensitivity.
A few weeks have passed since the Surface Pro 4 have been released and it seems that there are more and more users who report bugs and other issues that they find on these two devices. Microsoft will fix most of these issues, but it will take some time and we need to just be patient.
