Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Release With Unbeatable Features and Improvements

1

So far we have received only scraps of information about the new Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm, who will be integrated into most mobile brands in the near future. The US company has revealed full details about it, confirming that in 2016 we will find on the market devices that will use it. Snapdragon 820 is the most powerful processor that Qualcomm has developed to date and attempt to leave behind such a negative reputation that its predecessor has gathered, the 810 model.

Snapdragon 820 will be developed on a 14nm FinFET architecture, which will ensure greater efficiency in terms of power consumption and will limit the heat release limit use. The chipset will integrate multiple high performance items, expected a double performance from that of the 810 model. Also, devices that will use the new chip will have advanced security systems and could use some secondary functions without resorting to the main processor.

The new 820 lacks a octa-core processor, but uses a quad-core one with proprietary Kryo core, it is built on 64-bit architecture and can reach 2.2 GHz frequency use. The new Kryo CPU is twice more powerful than the Snapdragon 810 and consumes twice less energy, ensuring long-term usage. Adreno 530 graphics chip is also one step above the old 430, but not at the same level processor, it will provide you with 40% higher performance and consume 40% less electricity.

The new Snapdragon 820 will integrate two components in addition to its predecessor, who will assist the main processor, it’s about Hexagon 680 DSP, which will take multimedia functions and Spectra Camera image processor. Playback of audio and video files and processing the registration will be taken by Hexagon, thus limiting CPU usage and improving efficiency of the whole device. Spectra Camera will be used to capture images up to 28 megapixels and to ensure bright pictures with low noise.

Qualcomm has also integrated advanced security systems to the new chipset, they are part of Heaven suite and include components like Secure MSM for hardware and software, StudioAccess to protect files stored files, SafeSwitch to prevent theft, Snapdragon Sense ID with biometric fingerprint authentication and Smart Protect Snapdragon.

Finally, Snapdragon 820-based devices will have a new LTE modem: X12, it is compliant with the Cat 12 standard, providing performance of up to 600 Mbps download and 150 Mbps for upload. Of course, these capabilities are limited by the signal strength and performance of the network to which the device is connected.
