Nexus 5X vs. Nexus 6P – What Are The Differences Between Them?

0

Google hasn’t impressed us last year with the tablet made by HTC and the phablet made by Motorola. In 2015, Samsung started a new trend, by launching two flagships simultaneously, so the other companies copied this idea and did the same. Google has reconciled with the disappointed fans, by bringing them two options of smartphones to choose from: LG’s Nexus 5X with weaker specs and Huawei’s Nexus 6P premium phablet, let’s take a look at their specs.

Designs and Displays

The Nexus 5X is the smaller model and it’s a big improvement over the Nexus 5, which came two years ago, with a floating arc design, this phone has now a rectangular body, but it’s still made of plastic with a matte finish. There have been made other visible changes as well: the device is slimmer (7.9mm), taller (147mm) and it has the rear camera in the top center, while under it was placed a circular fingerprint scanner (Nexus Imprint). The screen size has been increased to 5.2-inch, but it still supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, which results in a pixel density of 423ppi.

The Nexus 6P is visually more attractive with its metal chassis, but its design is inspired from the Huawei P8 flagship, but it has a curvier back and the black horizontal band at the top has a glossy effect. Inside, on the left corner, is situated the camera, while under the band sits the same fingerprint scanner. This model has a larger screen with a diagonal of 5.7-inch and it supports a higher resolution of 2560×1440 pixels at 518ppi. The Nexus 6P is slimmer at 7.3mm and its front side is similar to that of the Nexus 5X.

Hardware

Huawei used the newer Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 octa core processor clocked at 2GHz, which was paired with 3GB of RAM. LG, on the other hand, has opted for the previous Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor which runs at a clock speed of 1.82GHz and it’s backed by 2GB of RAM.

Neither the Nexus 5X nor does the Nexus 6P have expandable storage, but there more variants to choose from, the LG device offers variants of 16/32 GB, while the Nexus 6P comes in variants of 32/64/128 GB.

Cameras and Batteries

Both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have a 12.3MP IMX377 sensor from Sony with an aperture of f/2.0, 1.55µm pixels and laser autofocus, but LG opted for a weaker 5Mp front camera with 1.4µm pixels and an f/2.0 aperture, while Huawei has used an 8MP front camera with 1.4µm pixels and an f/2.4 aperture.

Both phones support a USB Type-C connector, but the capacities of their batteries are different: the smaller Nexus 5X is powered by a 2700mAh unit, while the Nexus 6P houses a larger 3450 mAh unit.
