OnePlus users will be glad to hear that the latter has announced the arrival the Android 6.0 to its thriving range of devices.
Expect the first device that will embrace the Android M update to be the OnePlus One (currently runs Cyanogen OS). This will happen in Q1 of the forthcoming year. The community builds regarding the OnePlus One device will receive the updates “when time allows” according to the company’s statement.
The OnePlus 2 is next in line and the big rollout of the Android M will happen during the same quarter of 2016. The latter upgrade will target Oxygen OS and it will bring forth the API for fingerprint sensors.
“We’ve heard requests for us creating an API for the current fingerprint implementation in OxygenOS, but have decided against this since we’re switching over to the standard Android M implementation soon,” says the company.
No word on the OnePlus X device regarding the rollout of the Android M upgrade. But, the company is planning on keeping a pretty flexible strategy regarding the rollout of the Android M for the last two devices, but anything can happen along the way. Given the fact that the company has failed to mention a precise date for this upgrade, some are wondering if the company will in fact deliver.
Considering the fact that the Oxygen operating system resembles stock Android, users are keeping their fingers crossed and hoping that the OnePlus X will receive the Android M upgrade during the same timeframe as the last two devices. However, those who own a OnePlus X gizmo should rejoice as kernel sources for the latter have been set into the wild. This means a lot more custom ROM options.
It’s not an easy job trying to deliver the Android 6.0 M upgrade gradually and within reason as far as time is concerned.
