HTC One A9 is Rejuvenation for HTC and can prove to be a Game Changer
The HTC One A9 is a game changer for the company and shows that it can still hold its own in the marketplace.
It is different from other One smartphones and evolves on the One M7. The metal unibody has been flattened, the profile has been slimmed and there is the latest front glass in 2.5D, combined with an AMOLED display screen, a camera sporting OIS, with expandable storage. However, the stereo speaker in front of other One phones is a missing feature.
Dimensions and Design
It spreads over dimensions of 145.8 x 70.8 x 7.2 mm and has a fingerprint scanner. The AMOLED screen is compact at 5 inches and it is slim at 7.3 mm, with a weight of 143 grams. The Home key is also the fingerprint reader and offers quick access.
It is slimmer and flatter compared to other One phones and the curved edge makes it look like the iPhone 6 or the One M8. There is a protective Gorilla Glass 4 over the curved edges making it look premium and sleek. It is comfortable to handle and offers a secure grip with rounded edges.
It comes with a 5 inch AMOLED display at a resolution of 1080 pixels and a ppi of 441. Contrast levels are impressive and there are two color modes, namely the oversaturated AMOLED one and the more accurate RGB mode.
The A0 comes with a 2150 mAh battery that cannot be removed. However, the capacity is not enough due to the combination of the AMOLED screen and a Snapdragon 617 chipset. However, it offers Quick Charge, 2.0 as well as 3.0 feature and the battery can be charged very quickly with a fast charger.
You can use nano SIM cards and extend 16 GB storage to 200 GB. Android Marshmallow allows users to add SD cards, offering internal storage.
Android 6.0 version OS
It is among the first devices using the new Marshmallow, Android 6.0 version, though it has an overlay of HTC Sense 7.0 user interface. The fingerprint sensor is accurate and the phone supports double tap as well as swiping up movement for unlocking.
The Blinkfeed collects content from Google+, Twitter and so on and you can search for a particular content or pull out relevant ones. It also offers suggestions for nearby eateries and pops up suggestions before lunch or leaving from work. You can also view reviews due to Yelp integration.
The primary camera is a 13 MP resolution, with BSI sensor and f/2.0 lens having OIS feature. The dual tone dual LED flash is useful for shots in the dark. The front camera is an UltraPixel 4 MP sensor with 16:9 ratio and an aperture of f/2.0 lens. You can use the Auto mode for simple shooting, while the Pro mode allows more perfect shots.
The A9 seems to redeem past mistakes of the company and it is a mid ranger with a capable performance and a sleek look. However, the pricing is high for a mid ranger.
