iPhone 7 vs. iPhone 6S – What To Expect From The Upcoming Flagship?
The iPhone 6S isn’t a big improvement over the previous model, as it came with a new processor, better cameras and a new screen technology which allows the users to perform various actions depending how hard or soft they are tapping on the display. This technology is called 3D Touch and it uses Apple’s Taptic Engine. So, what new features will be added to the iPhone 7?
The iPhone 6s came with the same design as the iPhone 6, but Apple has worked on a more durable material which no longer bends. Series 7000 aluminum is a new alloy, a bit thicker, which is more resistant to pressure, but the fans complained that it’s slippery and it scratches easily. The iPhone 6s has a thickness of 7.1mm and according to KGI Securities superstar analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 7 will have a thickness between 6 and 6.5mm. This doesn’t sound impossible to achieve, because Apple already released the iPod touch with a thickness of 6.1mm.
We’ve heard some rumors which said that the iPhone 7 will have glass-on-glass touch panels, because Apple is planning to ditch the in-cell touch panels, and this means that the flagship will be bezel-free.
There are three theories according to which Apple might launch the iPhone 7 in the summer of 2016, and besides the pair with screens of 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch, another iPhone will come with a screen of 4-inch, just like the iPhone 5S.
Also, there are reports claiming that the physical home button will be removed and instead, the phone will have a virtual home button with the Touch ID integrated into the screen.
A Chinese blog reported that the iPhone 7 will benefit from a new type of waterproof technology and Apple already filled a patent for it. It seems that the upcoming flagship will last 30 minutes under water, and the moisture won’t get inside because of the adhesive strips that have been secretly added.
The rumors say that the iPhone 7 will inherit the 3D Touch display, but its resolution will be increased up to 2560 x 1440 pixels, in order to get in line with the rest of the Android flagships. Some reports say that the display will be an AMOLED, created by Samsung, while others suggest that Apple will continue to use the TFT-LCD technology.
The current iPhone 6s is powered by an A9 processor which is backed by 2GB of RAM. As expected, the new processor will be an A10, but the RAM capacity will be upgraded to 3GB. However, we have reasons to believe that Apple will ditch the variant of internal memory with a capacity of 16GB.
The iPhone 6S received improved cameras with higher resolutions of 12MP and 5MP and the main camera is able to record 4K videos. Only the phablet version supports Optical Image Stabilization and this feature could be added to the iPhone 7.
