HTC One A9 vs. HTC Desire Eye – Fingerprint Or Resistance To Water and Dust?

0

The latest device released by HTC is a controversial phone because its design is very similar to that of the iPhone 6, but more about it we’ll tell you below. We decided to compare it to an older model, the Desire Eye, which has some advantages.

Designs and Displays

Likewise the iPhone 6, the One A9 has a body made of aluminum and there are two horizontal lines on the back, at the top and bottom, whose role is to hide the radio antennas. The similarities don’t stop here, as both devices have their rear cameras placed above the line at the top, but only their position differs. The One A9 has its camera in the center, while Apple has placed it on the left side. The colors of the metallic body are Carbon Gray, Opal Silver, Topaz Gold and Deep Garnet and the physical dimensions are 145.8×70.8×7.3mm. This phone isn’t a flagship, but it has a premium feature – fingerprint scanner, which is hidden inside the oval home button, the screen is an AMOLED sized at 5-inch and it supports a Full HD resolution with 441ppi.

The Desire Eye has a plastic body with a dual tone design and the available color options are Blue, Red and White. This phone is larger (151.7×73.8×8.5mm) and it’s IPX7 certified, meaning that it’s resistant to dust and water (up to 1 meter and 30 minutes). Its screen measures 5.2-inch, but it supports the same resolution and the pixel density is lower at 424ppi.

Hardware

The Desire Eye runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and it’s powered by a 32bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 801quad-core 2.3GHz Krait 400 processor which runs decently with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The One A9 is the first HTC device which came loaded with the new Marshmallow OS, but it doesn’t have the most powerful configuration, as it’s powered by a weak 64bit Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 octa core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, which is backed by an Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM (for the model with 16GB of storage) or 3GB of RAM (double storage). Both variants support expansion up to 200GB, which is the new maximum supported capacity. Last year, most of the flagships were able to support microSD cards of up to 128GB, but the Desire Eye came with an internal memory of 16GB.

Cameras and Batteries

Both phones come with a 13MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 28mm lens, autofocus and dual-LED flash, but only the One A9 supports optical image stabilization and its front camera has a lower resolution of 4Mp Ultrapixel, which performs better in low light conditions than the 13MP secondary camera of the Desire Eye.

The One A9 provides 16 hours of talk time on 3G with its 2150 mAh battery, while the Desire Eye lasts four hours more with its 2400 mAh battery.
