Apple has released a new Apple TV model which lacks many important applications and the fans were wondering when Amazon’s app for Prime/Instant Video will be available for them. The good news is that within a few weeks, their wish will come true, because a customer service representative sent Apple an email, specifying that the application will be released soon. However, we don’t know how accurate this information is.
It seems that Amazon has been contacted by engineer Dan Bostonweeks, who wanted to know if they will develop an application for Apple TV’s tvOS and he got a response from the technical team, in which it was specified that they’re currently working on an application which will be released in a few weeks. In the message which was sent on Twitter, Amazon’s representative said that “As we have already succeeded in developing an app for iPhone and iPad, we hope to make an app separately for the Apple TV. Hopefully, within a few weeks span, you will be able to see the Amazon Instant Video app feature on your Apple TV.”
Amazon hasn’t made any comment on this yet, so as long as the information is backed by an official spokesperson, we don’t know if the Amazon Instant Video application will be released within a few weeks for the Apple TV. So, if the application will be released for the tvOS, then it will function just like the iOS version, and the Amazon Prime subscribers will be able to stream movies and TV shows, while the non-Prime members will be able to buy or rent content.
It was rumored that Apple will get revenge on Amazon for not wanting to sell its streaming video device, and this would have been the reason why the Amazon Video app wasn’t included when the Apple TV was launched. But, in reality, Apple said that all video services are welcome, so they’re waiting for Amazon to finish the application and to release it for the Apple TV streamer.
