Oppo R7S Out to Compete with iPhone 6S Rose Gold Version: Will it win?
Apple recently introduced the rose gold iPhone 6S which CEO Tim Cook said that it was designed with the Chinese consumer in mind.
As if to counter this move, Chinese manufacturer Oppo has unveiled a Rose Gold Oppo R7S, an Android-powered smartphone that also brings in some of the latest features and specifications.
Ever since the rose gold iPhone 6S came into being, a lot of fads has been going on about this color variant. But to be honest, this is something we have seen before with Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 as well as a series of the latest HTC versions including the One M9 and One E9+, among others.
As mentioned earlier, it seems Oppo is out to defend the “invasion” of Apple in its backyard with its full-on rose gold Oppo R7S. Apple has recently been targeting all of its gold products to the Chinese market, including the latest iPads and MacBook. When put head to head with the iPhone, the Oppo has a pinker shade and is lessgold looking.
Great finish and amazing specs for a mid-level smartphone
The Oppo R7S will retail at $425, which means this device will be joining the many Chinese smartphones in the mid-level category. Even though the phone’s pricing pushes it to the middle class, it comes with some amazing hardware features that are typically associated with high-end devices.
The phone comes with a great unibody metal finish that makes it feel a more solid and premium and despite its size, it weighs just 155 grams.
The screen is a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED that is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is an improvement from the third-generation used on its predecessors. Rather than go for some of the latest chips, Oppo went for a mid-range Snapdragon 615 processor, which is the same chip it used in the R7 and R7 Plus. This is also the same chip you will find in smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy A7 as well as Xiaomi Mi 4i.
On matters RAM, you will enjoy this device as it features an amazing 4GB. This means multitasking and loading of apps won’t be a problem for the Oppo R7S, despite its average-performing processor. The onboard storage available on this device is 32GB, but there is room for expanding it to 128GB using a microSD card. Oppo R7S’s photography is amazing as the phone features a 13MP Samsung snapper on the rear and an 8MP snapper on the front.
Big battery unit and quick charging
Battery life is a problem for many smartphones. The issue gets even trickier with the bigger boys with bigger screens as these huge displays tend to consume lots of power. Oppo was much aware of this with its R7S’s 5.5-inch screen, installing a 3,070mAh battery unit on the device. To make matters even sweeter, Oppo has included its VOOC flash charging technology that will ensure you get up to 75%battery juice in just 30 minutes. This is technology that the Chinese OEM claims it has been working on for the past three or so years.
Expect to see the Oppo R7S in local stores this December, with the rose gold version set to be released first. The R7S will first enter Asian markets before moving to Europe and the U.S. later on in the same month or early January 2016.
