It is sometimes hard to believe that Facebook Messenger has more than 700 million monthly active users.

This is so because when the app first came out, many were not happy with the idea of separating the chat service from the main app, with a huge bunch the fact that they had to download another app something disgusting. Facebook Messenger now allows the users to send each other money from within the app. When in a conversation with a friend, just tap on the dollar sign at the lower end of the screen. Enter the amount you want your friend to receive and follow it with details of your debit card. Your friend will have to also add their debit card info in order to receive the money, which should take about three working days. Isn’t this cool?

Mute or leave a conversation

Notifications help the users know of any activities on the Facebook Messenger app. However, when conversations are too many, these notifications can become a nuisance. It is easy to mute them, better still; you can even go ahead and opt out of the conversations associated with these alerts.

It’s easy, just tap on the name at the top of the conversation and you will see a drop-down menu. Tap on the Notifications option and then go ahead and mute the notifications for any of the specified periods, which include muting them forever (until you decide to turn them back on).

You can also decide to leave a group conversation entirely and to do this, open the group and tap on the info icon at the top right corner. In the page that opens, tap on the menu option (three dots) at the top right corner and then select “Leave group”.
