Android Marshmallow for Sony Xperia Z5 Coming in January 2016

The arrival of Alphabet’s Marshmallow mobile operating system saw the latest releases of Android-powered devices getting this OS.

There are underway, plans of also getting the latest Android version 6.0 to Sony Xperia Z5 in January 2016.

Sony Corporation, earlier in October 2015, rolled out and confirmed a list of their mobile devices that were slated for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Through a Sony blog, the company listed the following series of Xperia gadgets; Z3, Z3+, Z3 Compact, Z4 Tablet, Z5 Premium, Z5 Compact and Z5, just to name but a few.

Despite conveying the list, the Tokyo-based company did not reveal the particular dates for the unveiling of the software to their gadgets. Certain sources however have indicated that the update is rolling out for Sony Xperia Z5 ‘next month’ which definitely translates to January 2016 as from the day of speculations.

Sony Xperia Z5 built on latest tech

The Sony Xperia Z5 is part of the Sony Xperia series of phones having two other variants; Xperia Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium. Powered with Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset, the October-debuted phone offers a full high definition of 5.2-inch display. Operating on Android v5.11, the Sony Xperia Z5 has a 32GB internal memory with a RAM of 3GB. The phone is basically a top of the range smartphone with features that are up to the current latest technologies, for instance, a rear camera of 23 megapixels and a front 5MP-cam.

Why Android Marshmallow for Xperia Z5?

With the recent release of its latest Android version, Google developed the OS with “new phone releases” idea in mind. Now, with the Z5, Marshmallow seems to be fit to maximally utilize the features on the phone and vice versa.

Released on September 2015, the latest Android version maintains its predecessor’s UX areas such as navigation, notifications shade and settings. Marshmallow brings also a number of new features to Android-powered devices such as new security and control tools, modes that allow for preserving the battery life of a phone, altered visual appearances, integration of Google tools and also improved usability.

With the powerful chipset on board, the Sony gadget is expected not to cause disappointments with the well-developed and improved operating system.

Coming in phases

As expected, the unlocked variants of Z5 phones should be getting the Marshmallow update first before the other series of Xperia gadgets; however, according to observed trends, all carriers do not always allow the release of a software update for a particular smartphone during the same period. As such it follows that one carrier may roll out the Android 6.0 in a certain month and the other competing carriers may release it later, even after months. This implies that some Xperia Z5 owners will get the Marshmallow update much later.

Currently, the update is running on only a few Nexus and other limited smartphones. For Xperia Z5 clients, they will have to wait for Sony to officially confirm and release the Marshmallow.
