Xiaomi hasn’t officially announced the Mi5 device, but an e-commerce website called Oppomart has posted enough information about its hardware and price. However, CEO Lei Jun said that the company isn’t rushing to release the flagship until the product will be perfected and will offer a better user experience, meaning that the MiUI software will be upgraded. Anyway, let’s take a look at the Mi 5’s specs and see how it stacks against LG’s Nexus 5 X.
Displays and Dimensions
The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to be released in February 2016 with a 5.5-inch screen, after previously it was rumored that its diagonal will measure 5.3-inch. Anyway, the bezel-less screen will support a QuadHD resolution of 1440×2560, which will give a pixel density of 515ppi and according to Android Headlines, there will be a physical button located under the screen, but it’s not sure if it will contain a fingerprint scanner or not. Also, the thickness of the device will be 6.9 and the back will be made of plastic, with two variants of colors: black and white. Also, the sides will be protected by a metal frame.
The Nexus 5X has a plastic body which is available in three variants of colors: Carbon, Quartz and Ice, it measures 147×72.6×7.9mm and has a total weight of 136grams. On the back side, under the rear camera is the fingerprint scanner (Nexus Imprint) and on the front side you’ll find an IPS LCD screen which measures 5.2-inch and supports a Full HD resolution with 423ppi.
Inside the Nexus 5X you’ll find a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset consisting of a hexa core processor clocked at 1.44GHz, which is backed by an Adreno 418 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 octa core processor which will run at a speed of 2.2GHz with 3GB of RAM/the variant with 32GB of storage or 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage, but unfortunately, the device won’t support a microSD card slot for expansion. The Nexus 5X has also two variants of unexpandable internal memories and their capacities are 16GB and 32GB.
Cameras and Batteries
On the rear side, the Xiaomi Mi5 will have a 21MP camera, most likely with OIS, while the front camera will support 8MP and the battery was listed with a capacity of 3800mAh. The Nexus 5X doesn’t have a huge cell, but it’s bigger than the battery from the Nexus 5 model. With a capacity of 2700mAh, the battery of the Nexus 5X can last an entire day if the users will make only voice calls on 3D. As for its cameras, the main one supports 12.3MP and it records 4K videos, while the list of features includes laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1.55µm pixel size etc. The front camera is modest, supporting 5MP.
