Nexus 6 Owners Started Receiving The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update

1

The Nexus 6 phablet that has been released last year, by Motorola, is being upgraded to Android 6.0.1, after this update hit the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P models first, the update doesn’t come with many new features or changes, or bug fixes, but it’s worth installing it because the battery life of the device will be slightly extended.

The Nexus 6 phablet has the following specs: a 5.96-inch AMOLED screen with a QHD resolution (493ppi), it has a polycarbonate back which is slightly curved on the edges, so it feels very comfortable to hold in one hand, even if its dimensions are exaggerated. The body is water resistant and has a metallic frame, but it’s kind of thick at 10.1mm. Inside, it has a 32bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad core processor which runs at 2.7GHz and it’s backed by 3GB of RAM. The primary camera supports 13MP and has features such as OIS, dual-LED flash and autofocus, but the images are not exceptional. The battery has a capacity of 3220mAh and it offers 24 hours of talk time on 3G.

The owners of a Nexus 6 can install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow by going to their device’s settings > about phone, where they will check for the update, then manually download and install it.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow has brought minor improvements to the camera, which has now a new feature called Quick Launch. To launch the camera using the new method, just double tap the power button while the device is on and you’re using it, or if it’s off or locked. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow has brought the latest security patches for December, as Google has promised that will do every month, to keep its devices secure. Google has improved the do-not-disturb volume and alarm controls, added 200 new emojis characters and a few bug fixes.

Also, the battery life has been improved and the device offers a better performance in terms of software. Unfortunately, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is not flawless and many users complained that the broken MMS issue wasn’t solved, while other problems might be caused by third party applications, but they’re not serious and they can be fixed by performing a factory data reset.
