iPhone 6S vs. iPhone 6S Plus – Would You Pay More Money On The Bigger iPhone?

0

It’s not easy to differentiate the two new iPhones from their predecessors, as they have an identical design. Only if you see a pink model, you’re sure that it’s an iPhone 6S/6S Plus, because this variant was introduced this year to make happy the female buyers. Apple has focused more on their internal specs, adding a new screen technology, a faster processor and more advanced cameras. But what are the differences between the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus?

First of all, we’ll start with their dimensions. Knowing that the new iPhones have the same screen sizes as their predecessors (4.7-inch/750 x 1334 pixels at 326 ppi, with a contrast ratio of 1400:1; and 5.5-inch/1080 x 1920 pixels at 401 ppi and a contrast ratio of 1300:1), you might think that the dimensions of their bodies are also identical. Well, Apple has worked on a different aluminum alloy, which doesn’t bend and it’s more resistant, but it’s also thicker, though it’s unnoticeable, so the new dimensions for the new models are 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm and 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm respectively. Also, the new phones are 20 grams heavier compared to their predecessors, weighting 143 grams and 192 grams respectively, but that’s not only because of the 7000 series alloy, but it’s also because of the 3D Touch technology integrated into the screen, which triggers various actions depending on the level of pressure applied on the screen. Peek and Pop are the gestures which allow you to preview content within the applications, so the users can know what is happening inside them.

Hardware

Both the iPhone 6S and the Plus variant can be upgraded to iOS 9.2 and are powered by an Apple A9 dual-core 1.84 GHz Twister processor, which is between 70 and 90 percent faster than the previous CPU, thanks to the 2GB of RAM, which is boosting its power. Also, the internal memory is available in the same three variants of 16/64/128 GB, which can’t be supported.

The battery life of the iPhone 6S is shorter than on the Plus model. The iPhone 6S features a 1715 mAh battery which offers 14 hours of talk time on 3G, 11 hours of video playback and 50 hours of audio playback, while the iPhone 6S Plus has a 2750 mAh battery which lasts 24 hours when talking on 3G, 14 hours when playing videos and 80 hours when listening to music.

Cameras

The rear camera has now a resolution of 12MP, but only the Plus model supports optical image stabilization. As for the front camera, it has been upgraded from 1.2MP to 5MP, featuring an aperture of f/2.2 and a 31mm lens. The new phones can record 4K videos and capture 8MP images at the same time, and they received a new feature which allows the users to record a 3 seconds videos consisting of 1.5 seconds before the shot and 1.5 seconds after the shot.
