Two live images of the Xiaomi Mi 5 have been leaked in the internet and we were able to see the new patent application for its fingerprint sensor. According to the latest speculations, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will have the smallest fingerprint scanner ever added to a smartphone, and it will be embedded into a physical button. Or, maybe it will be integrated into the screen, as we’ve noticed in the leaked drawings.
Initial rumors said that Xiaomi will release this flagship in September, but the manufacturer didn’t make the move yet and the fans are now hoping that January will be the month when the Mi 5 will finally arrive. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun asked the fans to be patient, because the wait will be worth it, and from what we’ve heard so far, the specs of this phone are really amazing.
But, back to the leaked live images, which have been firstly posted on Weibo by a random user. The images didn’t stay too long on the Chinese microblogging website because they were taken down, but the guys from GadgetzArena saved the two images and posted them on their website.
So, the latest rumors say that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will have a very small oval home button below the screen which will hide a fingerprint scanner, but the leaked images posted on Weibo were actually two drawings about a patent application for the sensor, and the home button was missing, which means that the technology could be integrated into the screen.
The Mi 5 will have a 5.2-inch 2.5D curved glass display which will support either a Full HD or QHD resolution. The phone will be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor which will be backed by either 3GB or 4GB RAM, and the internal memory will be available in two variants of 32GB and 64GB. On the rear side will be placed a 16MP camera, and you’ll take selfies with the 13MP front camera. The battery is rumored to have a capacity of 3600mAh and will support Quick Charge 3.0 tech.
