The Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4 and Mi Note smartphones will get the latest Android Marshmallow version soon enough, and this information has been confirmed by Xiaomi’s MIUI operations manager. Currently, the developers are making the final touches to MIUI 5.12.24 and the beta version will reach the three smartphones in short time.
The MIUI operations manager posted a screenshot on Weibo, the Chinese social media website, in which was specified that “the validation is almost finalized and the version will soon be released”, without mentioning the exact date. However, the MIUI 5.12.24 update, which is based on Android 6 has a size of 518MB, so you’ll need to connect to a wireless network, if you want to download it to your Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4 or Mi Note smartphone.
No additional information was provided, so we don’t know what to expect from the update, and we’re hoping that Xiaomi has improved the MIUI. The stable build of the MIUI 7 didn’t receive much praise because it worked with version Android 4.4 KitKat, instead of Lollipop, but Xiaomi’s representatives have assured the users that Android version of MIUI V184.108.40.206KXDMICI (666MB) has features that are available across all device. But it was quite frustrating, because the key features of Android Lollipop were missing and the users have criticized the manufacturer.
Now, it seems that the developer team will skip Lollipop and will jump directly to Marshmallow, which will be skinned by MIUI. Now, we’re curious how Marshmallow and MIUI will get along, but we’ll find out once the beta update will be launched. After the release of the Beta update we’ll see the Developer preview and finally, the OTA will roll out to the users.
We’re expecting other Xiaomi smartphones to be added to the list of models that will receive Android Marshmallow, and we’ll keep you update if we’ll find out something.
