Apple has released the iPad Mini 3 in October 2014, while the iPad Mini 4 was launched a year later, in September 2015. They are old tablets, but still very popular and fans who want to know the differences between them should check out this comparison.
The iPad Mini 3 measures 200×134.7×7.5mm and weights 331 grams. On the other hand, the iPad Mini 4 is slimmer and lighter as it measures 203.2×134.8×6.1mm and weights 299 grams. They’re both made of aluminum and available in colors such as Space Gray, Silver and Gold, the location of the rear camera is on the upper left corner of the backs of both tablets and overall, their design is pretty much similar.
Both devices come with a LED-backlit IPS LCD display of 7.9-inch that supports a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels at 324 ppi.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The iPad Mini 3 features an Apple A7 chipset, a dual-core Cyclone processor clocked at 1.3GHz, a PowerVR G6430 graphics card and 1GB of RAM. The iPad Mini 4 has a newer Apple A8 chipset, a dual-core Typhoon processor clocked at 1.5GHz, a PowerVR GX6450 graphics card and 2GB of RAM.
Both devices have been released in three internal storage variants of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB, but they don’t offer a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
The iPad Mini 3 sports a primary camera of 5MP that features autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and a secondary camera of 1.2MP. The iPad Mini 4 has a better primary camera of 8MP that features autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and a secondary camera of 1.2MP.
The iPad Mini 3 is powered by a non-removable 6470 mAh which is weaker than the non-removable battery of 5124 mAh that the iPad Mini 4 has.
