Nexus 5X Gets Android O Update – What to Expect?

0

While the Nexus 5X Android O beta is available for download, it is generally recommended that it be skipped for the time being and wait for the full release. While not as terrible as the Developer Preview, it still has a few issues and you can only use it on a few compatible devices. The installation itself is not the most complicated, but it does require a little bit of patience.

The Nexus 5X is still regarded as a powerhouse amongst smartphone despite its aging status. Google, however, has released a preview beta for the Android O and it has a lot of new and interesting features, but the chances of encountering bugs and problems are not to be ignored.

Of the notable changes available in the preview beta, one can find a new design for the quick settings, a new design for the application shortcuts, and notification dots. A change has been made to the date and settings icons, they can now be found on the last row of the toggles. The toggles themselves have also been changed to a black and white color scheme. The current version also has some mechanics left from the Developer Preview version. You can use the Picture in Picture feature and you can also make-use of the new emoji and the adaptive icons.

As previously mentioned, the beta is not without its problems. Expect issues such as random restarts, lag on the UI and connection issues to the Bluetooth and the Wi-Fi features, to name a few. You might notice extreme battery loss, freezes, hic-ups and problems with third-party applications.

Google is keeping close tabs on these issues and is expecting more and more reports on issues as more and more people are trying out the Android O Beta version.
