The new update from WhatsApp on iOS brought many interesting features, among them being filters for photos and videos, quick reply links and automatic albums.

Albums: an interesting feature, automatic albums aim to bring together four or more photos/videos that have been received in close series, showing them within a message all gathered together as a bundle. The same thing applies if you send four or more photos or videos inside a message. If you tap the bundle of photos it brings you up the collection of media which can be seen in full screen.

The WhatsApp users might be engulfed with dozens of photos from their family and relatives, office colleagues, friends and so on, but this could surely be useful for a market like India’s.

Photo and Video Filters: another cool and genius feature is the ability to add filters to videos, photos and even GIFs. All you got to do is snap a picture, shoot a video (or choose from your gallery) and swipe up to choose the perfect filter. The update comes with five filter options: pop, film, chrome, cool and black & white. From now on, you don’t have to take the picture, use another app to beautify your photos/videos and only after going through this process, to send them to your love ones. Great idea guys!

Replay Shortcut: this part’s quality is made to aid you reply to a message in a faster and easier way. From now on, all you have to do is swipe right on the message that you would like to text back to and write your message.

According to Mary Meeker’s report, WhatsApp has over 200 million users in India, being the most downloaded app. Over 50 billion messages are sent worldwide everyday in WhatsApp, more than 760 million videos, 3.3 billion photos and 80 million GIFs. WhatsApp you do a great job and thanks to the update, you just made our lives a little easier. What do you think about the new update?
