Samsung Galaxy S8 Features and Improvements from Google Play Music
The New Release Radio has been announced back in April and has become the default music player for the flagship Android smartphone, as it was said on the official Google blog:
“…with the launch of the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, Google Play Music will be the default music player and music service on new Samsung phones and tablets globally. We’re also collaborating with Samsung to create special features in Google Play Music just for Samsung customers.”
New Release Radio is very much alike to Spotify’s Release Radar, but Google launched it only for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The new app will display you with various personalized mixes of new music that will be updated on every day basis.
If you are into Google Play Music and already a subscriber, you might think about the New Release Radio to be a nice addition, but it may not be enough to attract other users to give up Spotify or Apple Music and switch to Google Play Music.
The radio station is particularly selected for broadcasting mainstream music releases from all around the globe. But if you are not into the latest pop music, like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez, the station will keep you away from what is new and from any other related artists.
Furthermore, you will also receive some of the hits from overseas, so you may encounter French hits or, who knows, some J-Pop. If your tastes are more into the niche genres kind of music, however, or maybe you just simply despise popular culture, New Releases Radio might not be something you will find on repeat.
So what are your thoughts about New Release Radio? Is it enough to make you change your mind and change your usual music tastes?
