If you use Skype and live in Europe or the UK, then you’ve probably noticed that one of your favorite applications has stopped working since yesterday. Keep in mind that on the official Skype Support Twitter account, it says that the issue has been fixed, but it seems that that this statement is wrong.
We need to mention that firstly the application had some issues regarding the calls to landline/mobile phone numbers. This has been reported back in June 13, 2017 and it seems that Microsoft has found a way to fix this problem. Unfortunately, we’re not sure why it is taking so long for the American multinational technology company headquartered in Redmond, Washington to keep an application “alive.”
The company has firstly mentioned that it is aware of this problem, where the users are losing connectivity to the application and they are unable to send or receive messages. It has also added that some users will not be able to see the black bar that indicates if there is an ongoing group call.
Today at 1.45AM (GMT+1), Microsoft has announced on its official Skype Support Twitter account that the problems have been fixed. Unfortunately, 6 hours later on the Skype’s service web page, they’ve posted that they are aware that some users that are still experiencing problems and they are trying to fix them. Unfortunately, almost 12 hours have passed since the last announcement and the issues are still here and many Europeans are not able to access their Skype accounts.
We remind you that this is not the first time when Skype has some real issues with the servers. Back in September 2015, the service has been down for more than 15 hours, which is not so good, especially since there are many big companies that are using this application for their conference calls.
Unfortunately, it is not sure yet what it is causing these issues, but there are reports saying that these downtimes are caused by some DDOS attacks.
