Steps to take if you Gmail account is being hacked
Nowadays our virtual lives have taken control of us and everyone has to go online for their jobs, family or social lives. There is no limit to what we can find or do online; we are living in the Internet Era. But what about all that information we store on our Gmail accounts? Some of that information is private or sensitive and it would not be ideal to have your account hacked. Unfortunately, the hacking activity has been on the rise over the past few years.
In this article, you will learn what steps you can take in order to prevent hackers from attacking your Gmail account. If you find yourself in a situation in which you detect suspicious activity inside you account, or, if you needed to use a public PC and you forgot to log out, then what you need to do is go to your Inbox, scroll down and fin the option “Details”. You will see a table with the last sessions in which you were active online and which were associated to your Gmail account. Take a good look at the table and try to identify any suspicious activity. You need to identify if there was any active session which you do not recognize and, if you do, then what you need to do is click on the option “Sign out of all other web sessions”.
The next step to do is to change your password and enable the option Google 2-Step verification system. You will receive a message on the phone number you have registered with your account. That code, together with your new password will help you maintain your account safe. Let’s not forget that Gmail also offers its users the possibility of running a security checkup. This security checkup allows you to decide which other app or site is allowed to access you account.
