WhatsApp vs. Telegram – Best Encryption and Security Comparison
WhatsApp and Telegram are two of the most popular instant messaging services in the world. Their users love them for different reasons, and each individual service is amazing in its own way. However, one main concern nowadays has to do with security. User privacy is starting to be a highly debated topic and a lot of apps and companies try to get more data from us than we’d like them to.
It’s no different with instant messaging services. Today we’ll decide which of the two is more secure and answer the age old question: is Telegram better than WhatsApp or the other way around? Let’s find out.
As far as end-to-end encryption, Telegram has always been safe. WhatsApp also jumped on the encryption bandwagon about a year ago, when all chats became secure. So both instant messaging apps are encrypted, but just how much is this worth in practice?
Unfortunately for WhatsApp, it’s owned by Facebook. While this is not necessarily a bad thing overall, because it does imply better updates and funding, it also means that our favorite instant messaging app is owned by one of the most prominent data farming companies in the world. Facebook collect6s information on us from anywhere it can, so the fact that they also own WhatsApp is shady to say the least.
Telegram, on the other hand, is a one hundred percent independent service owned by its developers and no one else. This is why a lot of people actually prefer it, and most people run both WhatsApp and Telegram on their devices at the same time. What about you? Do you use WhatsApp, Telegram or both, and why? Let us know in the comment section below. We’d love to hear as many opinions on this as possible.
